BOSTON —The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported an additional 986 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the statewide total to 143,927.
There were 17,966 new molecular tests conducted, with an approximately 5.49% daily positive rate.
State health officials also confirmed 30 new COVID-19-related deaths across Massachusetts, bringing the state’s confirmed coronavirus death toll to 9,589.

DES MOINES, Iowa —Gov. Kim Reynolds on Thursday said hospitals are telling her they have enough resources to handle the influx of coronavirus patients as the state reported a new record this week.
There are currently 530 Iowans hospitalized with the virus, down from a record of 535 reported the previous day.
Reynolds said statewide, about 10% of people in Iowa hospitals are there for coronavirus.
